About Well Water Safe
More than 43 million Americans get their drinking water from private wells — and unlike public water systems, private wells aren't regulated or tested by the EPA. That leaves well owners to figure out on their own what might be in their water and what to do about it.
Well Water Safe exists to close that gap. We take the U.S. Geological Survey's published models of arsenic and nitrate in private wells and turn them into plain-language risk profiles for your state and county — then help you match a filter to whatever you find.
What we believe
- Real data or nothing. Every risk figure traces to a published USGS dataset. We never invent numbers. See our methodology.
- Modeled risk is a starting point, not an answer. We tell you what's likely in your area, then point you to test your actual well.
- Honest product advice. We recommend filters based on what actually removes your contaminant — arsenic and nitrate need reverse osmosis, and we say so even when a cheaper product would earn us more.
